黒湯温泉
Second of Nyuto Onsen's seven ryokan, with thatched-roof bath houses scattered around an active geothermal stream venting visible plumes through the village.
Kuroyu sits 800 meters up the road from Tsurunoyu in a clearing where the spring source runs at near-boiling temperature; staff route the water through the village's wooden pipes to four separate baths, each cooler than the last. The two thatched-roof bath buildings are originals from 1764. Closed November through April for snow. The day-soak fee is the lowest of the Nyuto seven.
