Jizoson Shrine
Overview
Small Jizo statue shrine in the heart of the village where visitors tie used onsen-hopping passes.
The small Jizoson shrine in Kurokawa's center is the spiritual heart of the village. Visitors who finish their three-bath Nyuto-tegata circuit tie the used wooden disk to the shrine's racks; the ritual is what gives the village its sense of communal participation. The shrine also marks the local protective deity for safe travel.
Local tips
The shrine is unstaffed; donations go in the box. The wood-disk racks fill up in peak season.
