Overview
Meiji-era merchant quarter turned glass art hub with blow-your-own workshops and galleries.
A cluster of Edo and Meiji-era merchant buildings around a former black-walled bank in Nagahama has become Western Japan's largest glass art district. Visitors can blow their own glass, make stained-glass panels, or browse galleries of European and Japanese glasswork. The surrounding streets retain their castle-town grid, filled with small cafes and artisan workshops.
