Local tips
The white-walled kurazukuri (warehouse) district along the Tamasugawa River dates from the Edo period. Many of the structures are still functioning sake breweries and textile shops. The Akagawara (red-tiled) buildings adjacent to the white walls create an unusual streetscape rarely seen elsewhere in the San'in region. Kurayoshi is 30 minutes east of Tottori City by limited express; the historic district is a 10-minute walk from the station.
