Kurase Observatory
倉瀬展望台
Overview
Kurase Observatory, located at the northern end of Jinoshima Island, has views of Oshima and Okinoshima in the Genkai Sea.
Kurase Observatory at the northern tip of Jinoshima Island is a grassy clifftop with benches and open views across the Genkai Sea toward Oshima and Okinoshima. The 1.2-kilometer Camellia Road trail from Toyoka Ferry Port takes about 20 minutes, winding through rows of camellia trees. About 700 meters before the viewpoint, a side path marked by a stone torii climbs steeply to the summit of Mt. Gion, where a small stone hokora shelters a local deity. A semi-submerged reef and a sake-flask-shaped rock are visible at the base of the cliff. Bento lunches are available at the port before you start.
