Kunisaki Rokugo Onsen
くにさき六郷温泉
Overview
Kunisaki Rokugo Onsen is a group of six onsen (hot springs) spread across Bungotakada.
Spread across Bungotakada on the Kunisaki Peninsula, these six onsen facilities each draw from different spring types with distinct mineral profiles. The group includes chloride springs believed to retain heat and boost circulation, carbonated springs known locally as beauty baths for softening skin, and sulfate springs associated with wound healing. Each facility has its own character: Ebisudani sits in forest with rare brown water, Hanairo has a cold 24-degree carbonated outdoor bath, and Fukinotou sits beside the National Treasure Fukiji Temple but is open only to inn guests. The others are accessible to day visitors. A good way to sample Kunisaki's volcanic waters without committing to one inn.
Local tips
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath — this is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
