Kumano Kodo Kohechi Route
nature
熊野古道 小辺路
A rugged, mountainous pilgrimage trail connecting Koyasan directly to Kumano Hongu.
The steepest and most challenging of the Kumano Kodo routes, directly connecting the Buddhist sanctuary of Koyasan to Kumano Hongu Taisha. The trail crosses several mountain passes over 1,000 meters high. It is a rugged, deeply rewarding multi-day hike reserved for the prepared and adventurous.
There are virtually no convenience stores or supply stops along the high mountain passes, so comprehensive meal planning is required.
