Kumagaya Sakura Tsutsumi
landmark
熊谷桜堤
2km row of 500 cherry trees blooming alongside bright yellow canola flowers.
Located along the banks of the Arakawa River, this spot is famous for the stunning color contrast between the pink Somei-yoshino cherry blossoms and the vibrant yellow 'nanohana' (canola) flowers that bloom simultaneously. This landscape has been selected as one of the 'Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots' in Japan. The Kumagaya Sakura Festival takes place from late March to early April, featuring night illuminations and dozens of food stalls. The wide, open riverbank allows for a spacious walking experience compared to the dense crowds of central Tokyo.
