久住ワイナリー
Winery at foot of Mt. Kuju with vineyard, brewery, bottling facility, rice wine varieties sold in shop.
Kuju Winery operates at the foot of Mount Kuju in the Oita highlands, making wine from locally grown grapes alongside fruit wines using Oita's yuzu citrus and other regional produce. The volcanic highland soil and cool mountain climate give the wines a distinct character, and staff in the tasting room walk you through the lineup with notes on each vintage. The terrace looks out over vineyards toward the surrounding peaks, making the setting as worthwhile as the tasting itself. Combining a visit with a soak at one of the nearby Kuju hot springs is a straightforward way to spend a full afternoon in the Oita countryside.
Japanese bars often have a table charge (otoshi). A small appetizer served automatically. It's normal, not a scam.
