Kouri Island

古宇利島
Island two hours north of Naha connected by a bridge, home to the Heart Rock stone formation.
Small island off the Okinawan mainland, connected by the 1.96-kilometer Kouri Bridge, which crosses emerald water so clear you can see the sandy bottom from the roadway. Okinawan creation mythology places the island at the origin of human life, and a pair of heart-shaped rock formations on Tinu Beach feeds its local nickname, the Island of Love. A hilltop observation tower shaped like a crown gives 360-degree views of the surrounding ocean. A handful of cafes and fruit stands along the island road serve local shikuwasa citrus juice and purple sweet potato tarts, making it a satisfying half-day trip.
