琴平町公会堂
The Kotohira-cho Public Hall, constructed in 1934, is built in the traditional Japanese architectural style of irimoya, a style common in many East Asian countries.
Built in 1934, the Kotohira-cho Public Hall is a wooden structure in the irimoya architectural style, featuring a large wood-shingled gabled roof with a history in Japan dating to the seventh century. This style, here called moya-zukuri for common buildings, appears across Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, and castles throughout the country. The hall includes a theater that seats three hundred guests and is an active community venue, hosting concerts and seasonal events throughout the year. The adjacent garden offers changing scenery across all four seasons and serves as an additional event space.
