Koromo Shrine in central Toyota has played a significant role in the spiritual and social lives of residents for centuries.
Koromo Shrine in central Toyota has stood as a community gathering point since the 12th century, patronized by local lords throughout the Edo period. The shrine is linked to Komori, guardian of children, making it a destination for miyamairi newborn ceremonies and shichi-go-san milestone celebrations. Sub-shrines on the grounds cover Inari, Tenjin, and Akiba. Monthly stalls on the 8th of each month have been held since the shrine's old association with Yakushi, the Buddha of healing. The annual Koromo Festival in the third weekend of October brings large decorative floats to the grounds.
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
