Japan's oldest surviving kabuki theater, built in 1835 near the Kompira-san shrine in Kotohira. The wooden playhouse retains its original revolving stage, trapdoors, and hanamichi runway, hosting annual kabuki performances each spring.

Open for kabuki performances only during the annual spring Shikoku Konpira Grand Theater run (usually April). Tickets go on sale 1-2 months before through the Ticket Pia system. This is the oldest surviving kabuki theater in Japan, so even outside performance season the building itself is open for paid tours.
