Koganecho Art Bazaar District
culture
黄金町アートバザール
A former red-light district reborn as an open-air art village with studios, galleries, and street murals under the train tracks.
In one of Yokohama's most remarkable urban transformations, the once-notorious area beneath the Keikyu Line elevated tracks has been converted into artist studios and exhibition spaces. Over 60 artists from around the world live and work in the converted storefronts, creating an ever-changing outdoor gallery. The annual Art Bazaar festival opens all studios to the public.
Walk slowly through the underpass galleries between Koganecho and Hinodecho stations. The constantly rotating installations mean no two visits look the same.
