Overview
Kirifuri-kogen Heights near Nikko temples for more invigorating highland hiking beyond temple grounds.
One of Nikko's three famous waterfalls but far less visited than Kegon Falls, Kirifuri plunges in two stages through dense forest. The upper tier fans out over rock ledges while the lower drops straight into a pool. A 15-minute forest trail from the parking area leads to an observation platform. The name means 'falling mist', on sunny days, rainbows appear in the spray.
