The western gate of Kinojo Castle, an ancient mountain fortress built in the 7th century by the Yamato court to defend against potential Korean invasion. The reconstructed gate and remaining stone walls sit atop a forested ridge with sweeping views over the Soja plain. The castle is one of the oldest fortifications in Japan.
