Kinenbama Beach
beach
喜念浜
This wide, secluded white-sand beach facing the broad reef and emerald waters of the island’s Pacific coast is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on Tokunoshima.
Kinenbama stretches two kilometers along the Pacific coast of Tokunoshima, a wide white-sand beach backed by casuarina groves whose fallen needles are soft underfoot and whose canopy provides natural shade. The shallow coral reef waters are calm for swimming and snorkeling. If you arrive early in the morning, you might see someone walking a large bull along the sand: the island holds togyu bull sumo matches, and the animals are trained here. The beach faces east, so sunrise over the water is worth getting up for. Basic facilities include toilets, showers, picnic huts, and a campsite for overnight stays.
