Named for three sacred springs on its grounds. Purity, Good Fortune, and Healing, this hilltop temple demands a climb of 231 stone steps but rewards with sweeping views over Wakanoura Bay. Founded in 770, it is a stop on the Saigoku Kannon pilgrimage and is considered one of the earliest cherry blossom sites in the Kansai region. A massive 12-meter gold Kannon statue was completed in 2008, visible from the bay below.
