Overview
Spacious park surrounding Iwakuni's historic sites, famous for cherry blossoms and autumn foliage.
Kikko Park spreads along the bank of the Nishiki River in Iwakuni, directly beside the famous Kintai Bridge. Manicured lawns and stone paths wind past a koi-filled pond, and a section of the park holds a small enclosure where you can watch cormorants, the birds historically used for fishing on this stretch of river. A splash pad area and playground make it popular with families in summer. In spring, cherry trees along the riverside paths bloom in sequence with those on the bridge approach, and the whole area fills with picnickers. Entry to the park is free.
