Overview
Keishinin sits at 1,740 meters on Mt. Shichimen after a three-to-four-hour climb through misty cedar forest. The Nichiren Buddhist temple faces east toward Mt. Fuji, and on the spring and autumn equinoxes, Diamond Fuji can be observed here, when the rising sun appears to sparkle from the peak. The temple accepts overnight guests who want to attend early morning services, wake to the sunrise, and eat simple vegetarian meals. Behind the complex, Ichinoike Pond is said to be home to the legendary Shichimen Dragon Goddess.
