Overview
Steam trains through emerald tea valleys and turquoise river gorges, glowing neon green in May harvest.
The Oigawa Railway runs vintage steam locomotives through the tea-growing valleys of central Shizuoka, passing emerald hillsides of manicured tea bushes and crossing bright turquoise river gorges. The route extends to Senzu, gateway to the even more remote Ikawa Line rack railway. During the first harvest in May, the hillsides glow neon green and the air smells of fresh gyokuro.
