Dramatically perched on a steep hill on the Yokatsu Peninsula, offering 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean. The castle is famously associated with Amawari, a powerful and rebellious Ryukyuan lord. The steep climb to the top tier is incredibly rewarding.
Local tips
Wear shoes with good grip, as the original stone steps leading to the highest enclosure are quite steep and uneven.
