菓子屋横丁
Narrow century-old candy alley with 20 sweet shops selling dagashi and sweet potato treats.
This 100-meter alley in Kawagoe's 'Little Edo' district packs around 20 traditional sweet shops into a lane barely wide enough for two people. Vendors sell penny candies, giant sweet potato sticks, handmade senbei, and colorful dagashi snacks that haven't changed since the early 1900s. The alley survived a 2015 fire and was lovingly rebuilt, preserving the wooden storefronts and nostalgic atmosphere of prewar Japan.
