笠乃家
Traditional tea house famous for Umegae Mochi (grilled rice cake with red bean).
This traditional tea house on the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine has served Umegae Mochi for generations, the grilled rice cakes filled with sweet red bean paste bearing the plum blossom symbol of the shrine. Watching the fresh mochi being prepared and grilled to order is part of the experience. The connection to one of Japan's most important shrines adds cultural significance to each sweet bite.
