Kamiyu Onsen’s water flows directly from the source, untreated. The simple, riverside bath uses sodium bicarbonate-rich water that leaves skin noticeably smooth. It is closed on Thursdays and rarely crowded. Wash at the showers before entering; keep your small towel out of the water itself.

Local tips

Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
