Overview

The world's only museum dedicated to Osaka-style ukiyoe woodblock prints, tucked above a Namba side street.

This tiny museum on the upper floors of a building near Hozenji Yokocho is the only museum in the world focused on kamigata (Osaka/Kyoto region) ukiyoe. Unlike the Edo tradition of landscape prints, Osaka ukiyoe focused almost exclusively on kabuki actors, creating vivid theatrical portraits. The collection rotates quarterly and includes a hands-on print-making experience.

Local tips

Ask to try the woodblock printing demonstration. You can ink and press your own Osaka actor print to take home for a small fee.
