海津大崎の桜
A 4-kilometer tunnel of 800 cherry trees along Lake Biwa's northern shore. Japan's top 100 sakura spot.
Kaizu-Osaki stretches 4 kilometers along the northwest shore of Lake Biwa, lined with approximately 800 Somei Yoshino cherry trees that create a spectacular pink tunnel in early-to-mid April. Listed among Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots, it offers the unique combination of blossoms reflected in the vast lake with snow-capped mountains behind. A sightseeing boat runs during peak bloom for waterside views.
Rent a bicycle at Makino Station and ride the lakeshore path. It's flat, scenic, and you can stop anywhere along the 4km tunnel for photos.
