Southern Tokushima's Pacific-facing coast produces some of the most consistent surf in the Kansai and Shikoku region, and the Kaifu area is its epicenter. The beach break here picks up swells year-round, with autumn typhoon season delivering the biggest waves. Surf shops and rental outfits in the area cater to beginners and experienced riders alike. Beyond surfing, the coastline is wild and scenic, rocky headlands, river mouths, and long stretches of sand backed by forested mountains. The area feels refreshingly uncrowded compared to better-known surf spots.
