加賀本多博物館
Overview
The Kaga-Honda Museum contains a wealth of historical artifacts from the Honda family, the richest samurai family of the Kaga domain (present-day Ishikawa and around).
The Kaga-Honda Museum in Kanazawa collects artifacts from the Honda family, the wealthiest samurai family within the Kaga domain. The Hondas served as chief retainers to the Maeda lords, and their fortunes grew large enough that they maintained their own castle-town district within Kanazawa, complete with their own retainers. The collection includes helmets, katana swords, and horse armor. The building itself is a former military arsenal in red brick, connected to the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of History in Honda no Mori Park. A visit gives a concrete sense of the layered hierarchy and considerable wealth of Kaga domain samurai society.
