湯田中駅前温泉楓の湯[日帰り温泉]
Kaede no Yu, a public hot spring facility just steps from Yudanaka Station, is an excellent example of Japanese public baths known as sentō.
Public hot spring facility steps from Yudanaka Station with two bathing areas, each offering an indoor and outdoor bath in different materials: Japanese cypress, granite, and andesite stone. The spring delivers about 100 liters of water per minute at 91.7 degrees Celsius, cooled to around 42 to 43 degrees for bathing. The water is naturally rich in sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, said to help with cuts, nerve pain, and circulation. Gender designations rotate each month so visitors can experience both areas over time. On the 26th of each month, staff prepare a seasonal bath infused with apples, lavender, or peach leaves. A free footbath outside is open to all.
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
