Jisonin is the official start of the stone-marked Choishi Michi pilgrimage trail to Koyasan. Historically called ‘Women’s Koyasan’ because women were once forbidden from the mountain, it's a focus for prayers on women's health. Look for the distinct, breast-shaped wooden ema plaques hung on the grounds.
