勝浦漁港にぎわい市場
Food destination in Wakayama where visitors can enjoy regional specialties.
JF Katsuura Seafood Market opens early each morning in Nachikatsuura, Wakayama, a port town known for its bluefin tuna. The market is run by the local fishing cooperative, and from around 7am visitors can walk through the hall where fresh tuna, amberjack, sea bream, and shellfish are laid out. A small restaurant attached to the facility serves market-fresh sashimi sets and grilled fish from morning through midday. Nachikatsuura is also the closest town to Nachi Falls, one of Japan's largest waterfalls, and the market works well as an early-morning stop before making the trip up to the falls and the nearby Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine.
