This hands-on museum at the foot of Mt. Sanbe introduces the mountain's natural world through touch, sound, and smell rather than just visual displays. Buttons trigger recordings of insects and birds from Sanbe's forests, real fur samples from local animals are available to handle, and specimens of cherry birch, spicebush, Japanese pepper, and a local mushroom are set out for visitors to smell. A corner labeled the Nighttime Forest shows mounted examples of rarely seen nocturnal residents including red fox and Japanese marten. Along the rear wall, large windows look out to a forest stream where patient visitors may spot live animals, watched through provided binoculars. A children's library with illustrated nature books occupies a nearby nook.
