Overview

A windswept headland with Mt. Fuji views and the dramatic spot where Nitta Yoshisada's army invaded Kamakura.

This small rocky cape jutting into Sagami Bay marks where General Nitta Yoshisada famously threw his sword into the sea to part the waves and attack Kamakura in 1333. Today it's a quiet park with benches facing west, on clear days, Mt. Fuji rises directly behind Enoshima Island, creating one of the most iconic sunset compositions in the Kanto region.

Local tips

Check the Fuji visibility forecast before going. Winter evenings (December-February) have the clearest air and most dramatic orange-to-purple sunset palette.
