Ikei Beach
beach
伊計ビーチ
Beach on bridge-accessible Ikei Island with clear shallow waters, marine sports facilities, family-friendly atmosphere.
Ikei Beach sits on Ikei Island at the end of a series of connected islands off the Uruma coast in central Okinawa. The beach charges an entry fee, which keeps it tidier and less crowded than many free beaches. Facilities include changing rooms, showers, and a cafe that serves Okinawan food. Equipment rental for kayaks, banana boats, and paddleboards is available through the summer season. The water is clear and sheltered, and the swimming area is good for children. Ikei Island itself has a few other small beaches and a quiet character. The drive out via the connected island bridges, through Henza and Miyagi Islands, is pleasant and gives a good sense of Okinawa's island-to-island geography.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen. It's better for the coral and marine life. Some beaches have shower facilities, others don't. Check ahead.
