market
いでゆ朝市
Every morning from March to November, local merchants host the Ideyu Morning Market, where they sell produce, souvenirs, and many other items.
Running from March through November, this morning market near Gero's onsen district is one of the better places to shop for local goods in Gifu Prefecture. Stalls open around 8 AM and wrap by noon, selling produce, sake, and tomato juice alongside items made locally. The standout product is hoba miso, miso paste wrapped in dried bigleaf magnolia leaves that takes on a faintly nutty character when cooked. Hinoki cypress woodwork is also common. Vendors are unhurried and happy to offer samples and explain their products. Everything is made in Gero or nearby towns, and prices are generally lower than souvenir shops in the area.
