Overview

Boat-access-only beach on Iriomote's west coast, white sand, shallow reef, and no roads in or out.

Ida Beach on Iriomote Island or its surroundings near Taketomi is reached by a short boat ride, which keeps the number of visitors naturally low. The sand is fine and white, and the shallow water over the reef is clear enough for snorkeling without any gear rental complications. Sea turtles are common here, particularly in the morning. The beach has no development, no rental stands, and no facilities beyond the basic, which is what makes it worth the effort. Bring your own water and snacks. The boat trip across from the main pier takes about fifteen minutes. It's a full morning or afternoon on its own, and the quiet is the point.
