Horyu-ji area

Rent a bicycle from Horyuji Station. The surrounding countryside is flat and quiet, making cycling the practical way to approach the temple compound. Inside are the world's oldest surviving wooden structures, including the Kondo and five-story pagoda, along with frescoes and statues.
