Hokkeji Imperial Convent

Time your visit to Hokkeji for late spring, when the garden’s Japanese irises are in full bloom. At other times, the draw is the Karafuro bathhouse and the two National Treasure statues within. Remove your shoes before entering any hall; look for a shoe rack at the entrance.
