Large outdoor day-use bath complex south of Jozankei, with a 1,000-square-meter rotemburo, a tandoor-oven Indian curry restaurant, and a free hot-air balloon in summer.
Hoheikyo Onsen is one of Hokkaido's biggest day-use bath complexes, set 5 km south of Jozankei toward the Hoheikyo Dam. The men's outdoor bath is roughly 1,000 square meters, the women's about 700, both fed by a sodium-chloride spring that comes out at 60 degrees and is air-cooled in stone basins. The on-site restaurant is run by a former Indian Embassy chef and serves naan-and-curry sets that became a local pilgrimage. A summer-only sunrise hot-air balloon offers free 5-minute tethered rides on weekends.
