豊平峡ダム自然散策路
A car-free 2km nature trail through Shikotsu-Toya National Park leading to a dramatic 102m arch dam flanked by towering rock cliffs.
Located upstream from Jozankei Onsen, this 102.5m arch dam sits in a protected environmental zone where vehicles are banned. The 2km walk from the entrance winds through virgin forest alongside the Toyohira River. The towering Senjo-iwa cliff faces, draped in maple trees, create some of Hokkaido's most spectacular autumn scenery. An electric bus is available for those who prefer not to walk.
Visit in early October when the canyon explodes with autumn color. Arrive before 10am to catch the dam's water release, which only happens on certain days.
