Ho Park
park
豊公園
Lakeside park in Nagahama with castle ruins, plum groves, and boat cruises to nearby Chikubushima Island.
Ho Park occupies the shore of Lake Biwa in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, with Nagahama Castle sitting within the park grounds beside the water. The castle is a reconstruction built in 1983 and now houses a history museum covering the castle town's connections to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who governed this area in his early career. The lakefront lawns and cherry trees make the park a popular spot in spring, and a playground and tennis courts add to its appeal for families. Boat tours of Lake Biwa depart from the pier within the park. The streets of Nagahama's old merchant quarter are a short walk from the park entrance.
