Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine
shrine
広島護国神社
Hiroshima's principal shrine rebuilt after the atomic bombing, inside the castle grounds.
Hiroshima's busiest shrine, located within the grounds of Hiroshima Castle. Originally destroyed by the atomic bomb and rebuilt in 1956, it draws over a million visitors at New Year and hosts the city's largest annual festivals.
Combine with Hiroshima Castle right next door. The shrine is especially atmospheric during the Toukasan Yukata Festival in early June.
