Hiroshima Gate Park opened in 2021 in a riverside location close to the Peace Memorial Park, occupying buildings that previously housed the Hiroshima Market. The complex holds a sports arena, a baseball stadium, restaurants, and an outdoor plaza along the waterfront. The Mazda Zoom-Zoom Stadium, home of the Hiroshima Carp, sits adjacent, creating a concentration of venues around the waterfront. Food options inside the park cover a range of local Hiroshima styles, including oyster dishes and tsukemen. It's a practical stop for a meal before or after a Peace Park visit, and the riverside walkway between the two areas is pleasant in the evening.
