Hatsukoma Honten

Traditional restaurant in Morioka offering the full Wanko Soba experience alongside refined Kaiseki multi-course cuisine. Located near the historic Hachimangu shrine, the restaurant serves its wanko soba in the classic style, with servers continuously filling your small lacquer bowl until you signal you have had enough by placing the lid on top. The record at the restaurant exceeds 200 bowls, though most diners comfortably manage 30 to 50. Beyond the soba challenge, Hatsukoma's kaiseki sets showcase the best of Iwate's seasonal ingredients, from mountain vegetables in spring to fresh mushrooms in autumn.
