Hana no Miyako Park
landmark
花の都公園
Hana no Miyako Park sits just under 1,000 meters above sea level on the lower slopes near Mt. Fuji, visible from almost any point in the park about 20 kilometers to the west. The cooler altitude delays the blooming season by roughly a month compared to Tokyo, so tulips open in late April, followed by nemophila, poppies, sunflowers, and more through summer. In winter, a nightly illumination event runs with weekly fireworks. A greenhouse called Floral Dome Furara stays open all seasons. In the eastern corner of the park, a chamber preserves lava tree molds found during the park's construction.
