Olympic Village and adjacent Echoland are prime locations to base your Hakuba winter sports adventures.
The Hakuba Olympic Village area, developed for the 1998 Nagano Winter Games, remains the social hub of the valley and a prime base for skiing and snowboarding. The adjacent Echoland neighborhood is packed with international restaurants, bars, and equipment rental shops, a lively apres-ski scene that sets Hakuba apart from quieter Japanese resorts. Multiple ski areas are accessible by free shuttle bus. The Olympic legacy lives on in the ski jump stadium (open to visitors) and the overall quality of infrastructure. Summer brings hiking, mountain biking, and rafting.
