Waiwai Beach

Waiwai Beach on Miyakojima has a gently curving shoreline where the water stays shallow and calm well out from shore, making it one of the more relaxed swimming options on the island. The sandy bottom is clean and the coral patches in the slightly deeper sections are accessible with basic snorkel gear. Beach umbrellas, chairs, and water sports equipment are available for rent at the facilities on the beachfront. The surrounding area near Hirara has a modest strip of restaurants and accommodation, and the beach is close enough to the ferry terminal to be a practical stop on a shorter Miyakojima visit before or after the boat crossing from Okinawa main island.
