Hachijin Garden at Kishiwada Castle

岸和田城 八陣の庭
'Battle Formation' rock garden designed by Mirei Shigemori.
While most people flock to Osaka Castle, Kishiwada offers a much quieter experience with a stunning dry landscape garden designed in 1953. The rocks are arranged to represent the 'Eight Battle Formations' of Zhuge Liang, a famous Chinese strategist. The sharp, geometric lines of the stone are a masterpiece of modern Zen design, contrasted against the traditional castle architecture.
