Goza-no-yu
Overview
Historic-style bathhouse at the Yubatake source featuring traditional wooden architecture.
Faithful recreation of the wooden bathhouses that once lined the Yubatake (hot water field) in the Edo and Meiji periods. It features two different types of spring water: the sulfur-rich 'Yubatake' source and the acidic 'Bandai' source, allowing guests to compare the two distinct qualities of Kusatsu's water in a single visit. The facility includes a beautiful second-floor tatami relaxation room with views overlooking the central Yubatake square. As part of Kusatsu's inclusive policy, it is fully tattoo-friendly. It offers a deeply cultural and atmospheric experience, serving as a landmark for the town's architectural heritage.
Local tips
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
